An Artistic Science or A Scientific Art?

You are the judge!
Lets make life more interesting and live a positive, health and a sound life. Being a doctor and a traditionally trained Classical dancer, and a musician, I feel privileged to understand the link between Art and Body scientifically.
YOGA IN THE FORM OF DANCE..............

(above pic is just a representation)

 What is YOGA?
Yoga means 'Union' in sanskrit. The union of Mind , Body and Spirit. Which means, a state of good health at all three levels of mind, body and soul. It helps align the vertebrae, i.e increase core stability, increase flexibility, and strengthen muscles and connective tissue of our body.
As we know, yoga brings a basic stability to the Mind, causing relaxation and thus cleansing our body and soul.

Dance and Yoga :-
Dance and Music together is a very interesting form of Yoga. The world famous Indian classical form of dance - Bharat Natyam and a combination of its music is a beautiful form of yoga in itself.

An interesting TRICK & TREAT yourself method!
This not only cleanses your Mind, Body and spirit but also breaks down the negative vibes and helps create a strong positive Aura around you.

KNOW HOW???
Some Gyan.........
  • One needs to concentrate to make or dance a good choreography - This is the best form of meditation!
  • Try joining your hands straight over your head , standing erect, then close your eyes for 2 min. You will know how beautifully your body calms down in a meditative form.
  • The best form of Yoga aasanaas are hidden in those beautiful poses of Lord Shiva (Natraja).
  • Every Natraja pose is Yoga in itself.
  • Dance makes you breath heavily, thus a great workout and the best blood purifier.
  • The twist and turns you make to dance tones up ur body and strengthens the connective tissue.
  • There cannot be a dance without "Music"  - this cleanses (purifies) you soul.
  • And last but bot the least , the rhythm , the beats breaks all the negative vibes around you, thus not only cleansing oneself but also the Aura around you.

2 in 1 Instant recipe

This is something I always wanted to share. For all those bachelors and my friends living away from their families... I'm sure you are missing your mom's DHOKLA! and here's also a trick to make an all time favorite instant soft yummy idlis . . .
Thats why is call it as 2 in 1 recipe. For a lazy cook and a complete foodie like me.... you gotta keep inventing some simple yet delicious recipes.. ;-)
Here's some simple recipe. Quick & Yummmyyyyyy with just three simple ingredients!

3 simple basic ingredients-:
  1. 1/2 cup of fine Semolina i.e rava (sooji)
  2. 1/4 cup of yogurt
  3. 1/2  cup of water
Secondary ingredients:-
  1. 1/2 teaspoon oil
  2. 1 teaspoon baking soda (or you can use eno )
  3. salt as per taste
  4. pinch of chilly powder
  5. pinch of black pepper powder.
 Garnishing :-
  1. Coriander chopped (Cilantro)
  2. Tadka ( heat Some cooking oilve oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when they splutter, add white sesame which is optional,a pinch of turmeric powder and a pinch of asafoetida, add kadipatta / curry leaves if you want)
Method

  1. Mix basic ingredients in a bowl, keep it aside for about 15 minutes.
  2. Grease an 1/2 inch  steel pan and keep ready to pour the mixture in to it. Boil water in a steamer or  a deep pan.
  3. After 15 minutes, add oil, eno and salt in to the mixture of basic ingredients. stir well. Pour the mixture in to the greased pan and sprinkle chilly powder and black pepper powder on to the batter.
  4. Keep the pan in to the steamer. Cover the pot with the lid.(you may use the idli container instead)
  5. If you are using deep pot and don't have a tight lid, just take a small towel cover the pot with it and then cover with the lid.
  6. Keep it on a medium for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes take the lid off and insert the fork or a knife in to the pan and check if it comes out without sticking anything to it, then that's an indication of a perfect dhokla. If not, keep it for another 2-3 minutes and it should be done. But as per my experience it should be done in 15 minutes.
  7. Take out the pan and let it cool for about 1/2 an hour. Cut then cake that is formed into midium sized diamon shapes by drawing horizontal and vertical slanting lines.
  8. Now take a small pan, ad make the Tadka, as explained above. add these diamon shaped cakes and toss.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander.

MEDITATION

They say Girls cannot stop thinking for a moment. But boys can.! I'm sure most of you would agree to it. Ask your boyfriend staring along the beach, 'Hey ! what are you thinking?
boyfriend replies: Nothing.
And you wonder, how is this possible! Funny yet true. In real, boys can keep staring at the most beautiful thing in the world and yet think NOTHING.
Now, this is one kind of meditation. Believe it or not - I tried doing it. Just look at any object and just think nothing. Not even, 'oh! what am I doing? or what am I looking at!' Let your mind shut down and feel nothing. Give it some rest.

One needs to train his mind to do this. It happens over a period of time. This is a logical technique. Ever have you thought  why is our body trained to sleep and how we are trained to declare sleeping time as resting time. Sleep is a form of meditation in our routine lives. But then we have got so used to our routines, and with all the day to day stress, it is important to meditate during the day yet not sleep! And this is the technique.
Is'nt this interesting!

Try it, and feel how relaxed your neurons feel  during and after the technique!

Extra Gyan
Positives :
  • Your mind is in your control
  • You are awake, so can practise it even in your office.
  • Hardly takes any time (barely 2-3 mins)
  • Helps sooth your mind quickly in short intervals
  • Keeps your mind fresh throughout the day
Negatives :
  • needs practice
[Note:for better outcome, end this meditative technique by deep breathing, at-least thrice]
